Why this picture is forbidden in Thailand.
Let me explain, although the person you see in this picture looks like the typical drunk in a corner of a midnight pub, the reality is that, this is the king of Thailand, “Maha Vajiralongkorn” in a german shopping centre.
This infamous king known for his vices such as betting and abuse of alcohol governs his country from Germany. He spends most of the year in a foreign country instead of his own.
But obviously, his most loyal services in charge of his image want to make people believe that the king is always on top of the country ruling and that he is always on Thai soil.
This is one of the most censored pictures in Thailand, bearing in mind that if this picture had free circulation within Thailand would be a scandal that could agitate the population by seeing their king in such circumstances.
He is the tenth monarch of the Chakri dynasty, he is also known as Rama X. Aged 64 at that time, Vajiralongkorn became the oldest Thai monarch to ascend to the throne. As of 2020, his net worth is estimated to be around US$30 billion, making him the wealthiest ruler in the world.
In fact he is known internationally in the media as the “Kardashian king” for his luxury lifestyle.
