How a teenager obsessed with a character from the “Silent Hill” video game saga, committed one of the most gruesome murders in decades.
As often happens in these cases, Andrey Emelyannikov, an 18-year-old Russian student, was described as a rather lonely young man who did not like to socialize very much. According to his classmates, he would watch video-game walkthroughs on his phone and his spare time, was spent playing video games, reading comics, and participating in a gore-themed internet forum. Emelyannikov, was fan of the character from the “Silent Hill” video game saga, Walter Sullivan, a psychopath and religious fanatic, who is also the main antagonist of one of the titles. He told his classmates on several occasions that in a certain way, he felt identified with him. As you can see, Emelyannikov didn’t exactly have the best role models.
The student, in addition to having poor grades, did not get along particularly well with his Health and Safety teacher Sergei Danilov, a retired army officer described by his students as “rigorous” and “strict”.
