Sonic the Hedgehog “Real name.”
Very few know that our beloved blue hedgehog, a classic video game character from our childhood, has a very different name from the one he usually uses.
The “Archie Sonic Miniseries Issue # 0”. The first one. Contains two separate stories introducing the Sega character for the first time in comics.
In this issue he revealed that his midde name was actually “Maurice”.
Maurice Hedgehog was the grandfather of Sonic the Hedgehog. Upon his birth, Sonic was given Maurice’s name as his middle name. In fact. the story that reveals Sonic’s true name is actually a flashback that covers the first time he met Dr. Robotnik.
Later, his real name was revealed again in issue # 53, when Sonic’s father Jules begins calling out for his son by using Sonic’s middle name, “Maurice”.
But, where does the first name, “Ogilvie”, come from?
A chief writer of the comic, “Ken Penders, was planning to make the first name of Sonic, “Ogilvie”.
Why? I really dont know. Couldnt find an explanation.
Well, whatever name it is, no one can deny that Sonic, our beloved blue hedgehog, made us spend unforgettable moments in our childhood.
